   social science reaserch is the kind of reaserch that looks into problems relating to human beings and would largely fall under the broad discipline called humanities . social science reaserch differs from other reaserch essentially in terms of methodology and the kind of questions the reasercher asks.to give an example, lets consider the case of a particular disease, at the risk of sounding cliche, AIDS. the medical scientist would ask what are the causes, symptoms, spread of and the cure, if at all, for disease. on the other hand, a social scientist would look into the stigma attached to the disease, the patterns of disclosure, the treatment seeking behaviour, the frequency of the disease in a particular geographical or cultural area, etc etc etc .methodologically the most significant difference is that the social scientist cannot work in a definite physical lab. the society is his laboratory and his subjects, the people.
